We believe that true wellness comes from within. Tai Chi, Qigong, and Qi Yoga are ancient practices that cultivate harmony between body, mind, and spirit. At San Miguel Tai Chi, we provide a nurturing environment where you can reconnect with yourself and move at your own pace.
Lydia has been teaching Tai Chi, Qigong, and Yoga since 1990. With over 35 years of experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge and a calming presence to every class. A Registered Yoga Alliance 500-Hour Trainer and Instructor, Lydia combines traditional practices with modern adaptations to make movement fun, accessible, and welcoming for all levels. Her holistic approach fosters balance, ease, and mindful connection in every session.
Gua Sha is a traditional East Asian healing technique that has been gaining popularity in holistic wellness, not just for physical ailments but also for mind-body therapy. Here's a breakdown of how Gua Sha can support both mental and physical well-being:
Gua Sha involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool (traditionally made of jade, rose quartz, or horn) to stimulate circulation, release tension, and promote lymphatic drainage. It's often used on the face, neck, shoulders, back, and limbs.
While commonly used for muscle tension and beauty, Gua Sha can also support nervous system regulation, emotional release, and mental clarity.
Gua Sha can help:
Neck & Shoulders Releases stored tension from stress, supports vagus nerve stimulation
Chest (light pressure)Opens the heart space, supports breath, relieves anxiety
Face & Jaw Reduces clenching/grinding, eases emotional stress
Back (Upper) Helps release emotional buildup and trauma held in muscles
Session Duration: 30, 45, 60 minutes
Each session is individually tailored based on therapeutic goals. A 45, 60-minute session may incorporate Meridian Movement Therapy as appropriate.
Testimonials:
What a gift I found Lydia Wong on my trip to San Miguel de Allende. She is an absolute master in her field. I had two private sessions and two Tai chi classes with her. She sees where the energy in the body and mind is low and gets it flowing. One feels like new after her treatments. The Taj Chi classes are fun and the two sides of the brain get working and connecting. I can highly recommend Lydia!
Lydia was recommended to me by my massage therapist in Los Angeles. Her message said, “I think she can help you when you get to San Miguel!” I arrived exhausted, overwhelmed and run down from six months of working overtime to sell everything I owned to start a new life at 60 in Mexico! I thought I needed to exercise and eat better, but what I quickly realized was it was much deeper than that. I was exhausted at a deep level and needed a full energy reboot! After one private session, not having any idea what to expect, I could tell that she was exactly who I needed to work with! She challenged my brain and body in a new and expanding way! She taught me that the brain is a muscle and you must work it out and challenge it regularly just like going to the gym for your body. Five months later everywhere I go people are complimenting me on how I look! By reprogramming my brain, I changed how I look and better yet how I feel! Plus I'm leaving San Miguel with an energy toolbox to support me in keeping my energy on a more even keel for the rest of my life I am so grateful for that recommendation and you will be too! I highly recommend Lydia Wong if you are going through a life transition and ready to reboot your life!
The Qigong and Gua Sha helped release tension I didn’t even realize I was holding. I sleep better, breathe easier, and feel more relaxed.
